Thanksgiving Harvest Dinner with the Pilgrims
Friday, November 18
Before
you begin cooking & cleaning for your modern Thanksgiving, experience
Thanksgiving as the Pilgrims did. Step aboard the Mayflower II, a
full-scale reproduction of the original Mayflower, to get a sense of what
the Pilgrims journey was like, and then visit Plimoth Plantation, a
re-creation of the farming and maritime community built by the Pilgrims on
the shores of Plymouth Harbor. In the Village, the year is 1627, just seven
years after the arrival of Mayflower and the townsfolk you meet are costumed
role players portraying actual residents of Plymouth Colony. You will be
invited into authentic, native homes, smell food cooking over open fires and
learn about the intricate handmade crafts at both the Pilgrim and Wampanoag
settlements. Then an evening of entertainment and hospitality awaits you as
you sit down to a "groaning
board" dinner filled with the
finest food that the season has to offer. Your Pilgrim hosts, the residents
of 1627 Plimoth - will spice up your dinner conversation with tales of England
- old and new. Discover the table manners and recipes that traveled
across the Atlantic with the Pilgrims, as we dine on some familiar (roast turkey
& corn pudding) and not so familiar (stewed pompion and a chine of roast pork)
traditional Thanksgiving dishes. $ 125

National September 11 Memorial & Museum
Sunday, November 20
Commemorate
the 10th anniversary of the tragic attacks on our country with a
visit to the new 9/11 Memorial, which will open in September, a tribute
of remembrance and honor to the nearly 3,000 people killed in the terror attacks
of September 11, 2001, as well as the six people killed in the World Trade
Center bombing in February 1993. The Memorial’s twin reflecting pools are
each nearly an acre in size and feature the largest manmade waterfalls in
the North America. The pools sit within the footprints where the Twin Towers
once stood. The names of every person who died in the 2001 and 1993 attacks
are inscribed into bronze panels edging the Memorial pools, a powerful reminder
of the largest loss of life resulting from a foreign attack on American soil and
the greatest single loss of rescue personnel in American history. We will also
visit the 9/11 Museum Preview Site located across the street from St
Paul’s Chapel. The 9/11 Museum, set to open in 2012 has opened the
preview site to allow guests to view the still growing collection of
artifacts, photographs, personal
effects and memorabilia & remembrance honoring the victims of the terror
attacks. You will have free time in the area to explore St Paul’s Chapel
before returning to the Cape. $ 75
