James Taylor & Carol King “Troubador Tour” at Tanglewood
Sunday, July 4 - Monday, July 5
Don’t
miss these two in concert at Tanglewood - you’ll LOVE the excellent seats
we have in the shed for this show! Those of you that went to the concert last
summer with James Taylor and the Pops will be glad to hear that he is
returning to mesmerize us with another wonderful performance, and this time
with his friend Carol King! Nearly 40 years after
Carole King's first public performance, which was with
James Taylor at The Troubadour in Los Angeles, the duo
will embark on a world tour together in 2010. Along for the ride is their
original backing band, consisting of guitarist Danny "Kootch" Kortchmar,
drummer Russ Kunkel and bassist Lee Sklar. Since the early 60s, King has been a
songwriting force -- not only is she behind the landmark album 'Tapestry,'
her early days found her penning songs for doo-wop, pop and Motown greats
such as
Aretha Franklin,
Dusty Springfield, the
Monkees, the Chiffons and the
Drifters; cover versions of her songs were done by the
Beatles,
Marvin Gaye, and
Neil Diamond. Taylor's most recent release is 2008's
'Covers,' an album of bluesy-folk renditions of songs such as 'On Broadway,'
'Hound Dog' and
Leonard Cohen's 'Suzanne'.
We have EXCELLENT seats in the shed for the show – in section 9, Fourth of July Fireworks will follow the 7:00 pm show, and ALL proceeds from this concert will benefit Tanglewood. Don’t hesitate – these won’t last long! We will enjoy a delicious dinner at the historic Red Lion Inn before the show and overnight at the Hampton Inn in West Springfield. Before returning to the Cape, we will travel to Newport to enjoy some free time for lunch and shopping and a one-hour narrated cruise around Newport Harbor with the Newport Cruise Company. Package Includes: one night accommodation at the Hampton Inn, expanded continental breakfast, luggage handling, dinner, shed seats for concert, Newport free time and Newport harbor cruise.
$ 309 per person, double occupancy, $ 70 single supplement
NOTE: a $ 100 per person deposit is required to reserve your space for this trip to cover the cost of your ticket
