Along for the ride is their original backing band, consisting of guitarist Danny "Kootch" Kortchmar, drummer Russ Kunkel and bassist Lee Sklar.  Since the early 60s, King has been a songwriting force -- not only is she behind the landmark album 'Tapestry,' her early days found her penning songs for doo-wop, pop and Motown greats such as Aretha Franklin, Dusty Springfield, the Monkees, the Chiffons and the Drifters; cover versions of her songs were done by the Beatles, Marvin Gaye, and Neil Diamond.  Taylor's most recent release is 2008's 'Covers,' an album of bluesy-folk renditions of songs such as 'On Broadway,' 'Hound Dog' and Leonard Cohen's 'Suzanne'.

We have EXCELLENT seats in the shed for the showin section 9, Fourth of July Fireworks will follow the 7:00 pm show, and ALL proceeds from this concert will benefit Tanglewood.  Don’t hesitate – these won’t last long!  We will enjoy a delicious dinner at the historic Red Lion Inn before the show and overnight at the Hampton Inn in West Springfield.  Before returning to the Cape, we will travel to Newport to enjoy some free time for lunch and shopping and a one-hour narrated cruise around Newport Harbor with the Newport Cruise Company.  Package Includes: one night accommodation at the Hampton Inn, expanded continental breakfast, luggage handling, dinner, shed seats for concert, Newport free time and Newport harbor cruise.

Behind the Scenes Tours of Boston’s Theatres

Monday, July 26

Opened in 1925, The Citi Performing Arts Center (formerly The Wang) is one of the five largest stages in the country. Originally called The Metropolitan or "The Met” it was hailed as a magnificent movie "cathedral," reminiscent of the splendor of a Louis XIV palace and was considered historically the most important Boston landmark of "the Roaring Twenties."  In the early 90s the theatre underwent a nearly 10 million dollar renovation to return it to its original splendor.  Our knowledgeable guide will take us behind the scenes on a 90 minute tour to see the inner workings of the theater including the backstage area and dressing rooms.  Enjoy some free time to watch the world famous street performers, browse the shops and enjoy lunch at historic Quincy Market.  Next we’ll stop at The Boston Opera House where we will see the recent restoration that brought beauty and elegance back to this century-old theatre.  We will enjoy a tour that encompasses historical and architectural highlights of the building, including the grand lobby areas, majestic auditorium and backstage space (when possible) for a new outlook on your theater-going experience.
